Vaccination for Covid-19
Covid-19 vaccines will be available from designated Vaccination Centres, the contact details of which should soon be available from the Healthdirect.gov.au website or possibly from the Victorian Government Coronavirus website.
Hampton and South Medical Clinic will not have Covid vaccines in the initial vaccination phases.
Booking processes and waiting times at the Vaccination Centres are yet to be clarified, but the vaccine itself is free and the service bulk billed.
Note there are scams operating, so please do not respond to callers offering to sell the vaccine or vaccinate you ahead of schedule.
As indicated on the HealthDirect.gov.au website, vaccination will be prioritised as follows:
Phase 1a of the Covid vaccination program has already commenced, and includes quarantine and critical healthcare workers.
In Phase 1b of the Covid vaccination program, which is to start in March 2021, the following groups will sequentially qualify for vaccination:
Adults aged 80 and over, then adults aged 70 to 79 years, then any health care workers including non-clinical staff, then aboriginal patients, then adults under the age of 70 with a specified medical condition, then adults with a disability who have an specified underlying medical condition and finally, adults working in police, fire, emergency, meat processing and certain other critical/high risk services.
Adults under 70 with a qualifying medical condition may wish to book an appointment here to obtain appropriate medical documentation &/or have this uploaded to MyHealth Record.
Further details of the specified medical conditions are available via a powerpoint presentation on the healthdirect.gov.au website.
This is complicated and can be discussed as part of a consultation.
In the next phase, Phase 2a, are adults aged 60 and up, then adults aged 50 and up, aboriginal patients and then adult workers in critical and high risk services who have not previously qualified.
I’m sorry its complex and I spoke to Health Direct for half an hour today, unsuccessfully seeking answers to the identified gaps in the above information.
To simply the above, please refer to the eligibility calculator available online at Healthdirect.gov.au
